Context one, this project is named blue sky because it’s quite frankly insane, the scope is creepy as fuck, and my current abilities are completely subpar to achieve it, but we all need a hobby, don’t we?
It’s also named Bluesky as there is no such thing in the mod, I’ve always loved underwater regions like coral cove and undersea, and I especially love necropolis’ after rain effect where once you reach the surface you find out the world has flooded if you don’t make it fast enough, combine that with the city of tears and royal waterways from hollow knight and you have the basis of this concept
A failing domed city, whose mechanisms flood the entire place in seawater at the end of every cycle before the drainage pumps kick back on to drain it clean by the next cycle. Of course, the player won’t know this is what’s happening until they climb up to find what’s going on above the city, or down below to the pumps
eventually, this concept is serious on my part but work is gonna be slow for now. I mostly just wanna fuck with room design and play with some dev tools around the rain and water
I've been mostly working on paper so far, as its easier to prototype and get out ideas then through the computer where my difficulties typing come up.
The ballast is the entrance to the city,
The Garden is where the player wakes up, mostly to ensure they don't have an understanding of whats going on. (I love that most mods give you a full idea of what will happen and what their theme is, but the goal of Bluesky is to do the impossible, and to give a sense of wonder and exploration, not just to impress people [:P]) The garden is a moderatly lush place that was once a greenhouse but is now decaying from the water erosion damage that has stricken the rest of the city, rendering it heavily ruptured in places with pools of stagnent water and revealed pipes and sinkholes leading to rooms of mechanisms and metal walls.
